Launched at the international trade fair Prêt a Porter Paris, the Autumn/Winter 07-08 collection is a chic and creative reinterpretation of the traditional, giving a new look to conventional pieces for today’s women.
The collection, based on the theme "Today's Charlie Girl" was inspired by the 1970's Revlon campaign that featured a female image known as the “Charlie Girl”; a sassy, independent woman at ease with herself and always looking good at work and play.
Separated into 4 sections the collection mixes tweeds, pinstripes, and wool crepes to create silhouettes that are distinctively feminine and includes American shoulder dresses, tops, trousers and jackets. The tweed and pinstripe scenario is interrupted by silk crepes and jerseys in washed out pink and yellow shades. Tops are worn back to front, large frayed accessories add depth and colour.
ON SITE includes loosely tailored trousers and shorts in black, pink and yellow tweed paired with hand dyed racer back jersey tops in complementary colours – perfect for long days in the office or on location. For meetings there are short jackets in combinations of wool solids and tweeds that pay homage to the timeless oriental look.
THE BOARDROOM is dominated by personality. The traditional pinstripe business suite is reinvented. Jackets receive peplums. Pink pinstripe is combined with bright wool crepe to create the new power dress with nehru collar and flared paneled skirt.
The third section, FROM WORK TO PLAY, has silk crepe raglan style dresses and tops in washed out pink and yellow shades layered over jersey body dresses. Angular wool crepe tops which can be worn back to front according to the occasion or personal taste. There are abstract panel skirts with flashes of the pink and yellow shades. Herringbone skirts get bias panels and silk velvet trims adding to the statement that the new business woman is the modern trend setter.
RECOGNITION, the final part of the collection, is dedicated to success. Halter dresses become a cocoon of bright pink and yellow silk. Cardigans and shrugs are dressed up with silk ruffles in distressed colours for an antique look. For the awards ceremony or the VIP party there are American shoulder shift dresses with plunging neck lines in subtly coloured herringbone accessorized with handmade silk cluster brooches.
