At Moixa we are obsessed with textiles, limiting our textile waste and of course textile innovation.

An innovator that has caught our eye is Algiknit. In 2017 they won the Sustainable Planet category of the National Geographic Award.

Algiknit produce fibres from kelp, a variety of seaweed, which is one of the most regenerative organisms on the planet. In fact, the yarn they create is fully biodegradable and its cultivation actually helps to restore marine water quality. The yarn is strong enough and stretchable enough to be knitted by hand or by machine to be used for textile production.

Another step forward to a future where the industry operates in a closed-loop cycle, diverting waste from landfill or incineration.
