Asian American painter Anita Yan Wong uses coffee as her base for a new series of portraits.
Best known for her expressive brushstrokes and unique style, Wong is a 4th generation Lingnan painter. At just five years of age, Wong started traditional Lingnan Painting lessons with Master painter Hsin Pengjiu. She went on to receive a B.A. (Honours) in Graphic Design from Central Saint Martins and received her M.F.A. and M.A. in Digital Photography and Digital Arts from Maryland Institute College of Art. Having worked as an art Professor for over 14 years, in 2015 she turned her attention and focus back to art.
Wong’s current works focus on Contemporary Traditional art in the Information age, particularly pushing the boundaries of Traditional Lingnan Style to the next level. Featured internationally on over 50 traditional and in top cultural blogs and art magazines, her work has been described as a “Traditional art form that questions the modern minds” by Yale University's China Hands Magazine.
